NORWAY SAYS
UNIVERSAL
13 December 2007 – 20 January 2008
Galleri MGM is pleased to announce an exhibition of new limited edition works by acclaimed international design trio Norway Says. The partnership is run by Torbjørn Anderssen, Andreas Engesvik and Espen Voll. Over the past years these designers have worked with various national and international clients, which have developed their skills in product, furniture and interior design.
At a time when the distinctions between art and design are becoming increasingly blurred, Norway Says does not pretend to be artists. The exhibited works are fully functional objects, and the creative process has been similar to their standard process. However, they have taken the opportunity to explore the gallery space as an experimental realm. The research into materials and production techniques has been liberated from the regular restraints of industrial rationalism and what is usually perceived as the market place for design objects. Every item has been uniquely crafted by Norwegian small-scale industry. The manufacturing partners in this project span from mechanical workshops that do precision work for off-shore installations to craftsmen that do traditional wood work.
Norway Says was established as a designer project in 2000. They set up an office showroom in 2002. Many years of hard work has lead to one of the most prominent recognitions a designer can get. In 2007, they received the leading designer award, Torsten and Wanja Söderberg’s Prize, which is presented by the Röhsska museum in Sweden. Norway Says is also represented in the permanent collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
Norway Says has been granted the following Awards:
